If visa cutoff dates don’t move, are visas being issued?
This is a question that is being asked often these days. The answer is unequivocally yes, visas are being issued. This year, for the first time ever, we are seeing the effect of a new policy that has been put in place. Before explaining the new policy, let me first explain the old.

The USCIS update of their AOS processing statistics

Remember "Bagdad Bob"? He was the propaganda flack for Saddam Hussein who, even when tanks were outside his building, boldly proclaimed that "the invaders have been thrown back and are nowhere near us." Many feel that after the invasion of Iraq was over, he found a new job as the head of public affairs for the USCIS. Their press releases are certainly worthy of him.

Can I enter using an unexpired H-1b visa that has my former company’s name on it even though I don’t work for them anymore?
This question is commonly asked in both by clients calling our office as well as people posting questions in our discussion forum, so please pass this along to any of your friends, colleagues, co-workers, and others that travel using H1b visas so that they understand their rights when traveling.

DHS site visits
We have received a number of phone calls from adjustment of status applicants, informing us that someone from DHS came around for a site visit. In every case, it turned out to be a routine H1B site visit. Coincidentally, in each case our client not only held H1B status, but was also an applicant for adjustment of status.

India EB3 movement based on CIS AOS report

Assuming that no new AOS applications are found, and there is no legislative relief, I've put together a chart of projected India EB3 priority date movement based only on the CIS adjustment of status report dated January, 2010. I've done this because so many people have asked questions about specific priority dates. Why should I file my PERM now?
We have been telling anyone who will listen that if they are interested in immigration to the United States, they need to get their PERM on file as quickly as possible. Why? Because we believe that we are about to see a very large number of PERM filings in the near future.
